HP Compaq 6910p

What is the brand model of your laptop?
HP Compaq 6910p. This is the laptop I currently use for work.
What specs (memory, hard drive, etc.) did your laptop come with, if known?
Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz
160 GB Hard-disk
14.1 inch screen
What are the best and worst things about your laptop?
It has a very comfortable keyboard and a usable touchpad with 2 sets of buttons. The laptop feels sturdy too.
It has 2 usb ports on the left side and 1 one the right. The top is matte grey and doesn't attract fingerprints as easily as other laptops. Screen is large enough for work (14.1 inches, 1440x900 pixels) with a sensor that automatically dims the backlight when using the laptop in a dark area.
It's rather heavy and the battery life isn't that great (after 1.5 years of daily use, battery life is around 2 hours at most). It's Broadcom WiFi card range is poor and is difficult to configure in Linux (but I believe there's a newer set of drivers for linux that can work).
How would you rate the keyboard, touchpad, and speakers?
Keyboard = 5/5, Roomy, had nice feedback
Touchpad = 5/5, Responsive, the right side can be used to scroll like a mouse wheel. There's no button to turn it off but you rarely press it accidentally then typing.
Speakers = 4/5, Bass is a little weak but it's load enough to watch movies with.
How would you rate your laptop's speed and performance?
4.5/5 - OK for office applications, but my laptop doesn't have the discrete graphics built in so it really sucks at games. It encodes movies to x264 really fast though.
Somehow, powering up from hibernation seems slow. Maybe it's because of the large 2GB RAM which makes for a larger memory image to load.
Would you recommend this laptop to a friend? Will you buy from HP again?
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend if he/she isn't a gamer, or doesn't wants an ultraportable PC.
Yes, I'll buy from HP again. I'll probably get myself a HP Mini 311 for it's portability and keep this old laptop for more serious work.
