My Dell XPS 1330 Review

by John Winstron
(16 Townson Ave NSW Australia)

I have a Dell XPS 1330. It came with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GBs of RAM, and hard drive with 360 GBs of space. It has a 2 year warranty and a Complete Cover clause that covers me for accidental damages on the laptop.

What I like about the laptop is its design, it is very sleek looking and it is quite small and light, taking into consideration the level of hardware that the XPS model has.

For that hardware, other laptops from other manufacturers are bigger in regards of size.

What I don't like about it is that unfortunately, it has the dreaded NVIDIA GPU issue. The video card overheats and as a result it always breaks down, and have had my motherboard replaced twice already.

I wish Dell fully tested the video cards made by NVIDIA before signing them up as partners to produce video cards for their systems.

Keyboard and touchpad are OK. I have not experienced any problems with those parts.

The speakers are quite low in volume, but that is understandable since it is a small system. The laptop's speed and performance is just average. It is not slow, but it is not fast either, which is quite disappointing, as I was expecting so much from the hardware that is in the system.

I would not recommend this laptop at all to a friend because of the NVIDIA GPU issue. I would still consider buying a Dell though, only when their prices go lower than what they offer nowadays.
